For over 20 years, DDMBA-Chicago has steadily grown, diligently serving both English and Chinese speakers in the Greater Chicago area. Through the teachings and practice of Chan Buddhism, we hope to help people realize the benefits of achieving freedom and ease with their body and mind. We take it seriously upon ourselves to realize the vision of our late teacher, Master Sheng Yen, in “Uplifting the Character of Humanity and Building a Pure Land on Earth.”
Thanks to the dedication and contributions by numerous donors and volunteers over the years, we have seen positive growth in the number of our Center’s participants. In particular for some special events, we are beginning to experience the limitation of our current small space, sometimes having to turn people away because of that. At the same time, we feel that the causes and conditions for DDMBA-Chicago to firmly plant our roots in the Midwest region have ripened. Therefore, in 2014, we made the great vow to purchase a better place of our own, our long-term home here, to allow us to share the joy and benefits of Chan Buddhism with more people. Our goal is to complete this purchase within 3-5 years, by raising $1.5 million funding.
We need your help! Only with collective vows and actions can we build a Bodhi home for all. Every brick and every tile at our new home will reflect the great collective compassion. Your support will strengthen DDMBA-Chicago’s ability to spread the Dharma, and plant a seed of wisdom, compassion and merits for you, your family and your friends.
