Gilbert.jpgGilbert Gutierrez, is an attorney practicing in Riverside, California. He began his meditation practice about 30 years ago and studied various forms of meditation, but according to him nothing comes close to matching the simplicity and the beauty of Chan (Zen). Gilbert received Dharma transmission in June 2002 from Chan Master Sheng Yen and became a Dharma heir of the Dharma Drum lineage. He is known for his lively and humorous teaching style, and his ability to cater to different levels of students. He now teaches Chan meditation regularly in California (more info) and lectures in many North American cities.

“Essentials for Beginners of the Chan Practice” is a review of ancient Chan masters instructions on meditation and Chan practice in general. This class will starts with an evening Dharma talk on Friday, followed by two days of guided meditation practice on Saturday and Sunday. This is an opportunity to get personal instruction and practice it in a retreat.
“Beginners include all Chan practitioners.”
This class is designed to increase the effectiveness of your practice by following easy instructions based on the Right View of Chan. The class is beneficial for new or experienced practitioners alike.
