Chinese New Year

Event Details

We would like to invite you to come and celebrate Chinese New Year with us!

The New Year‘s ceremony will starting in the morning with the traditional chanting of the “88 Buddha’s name” referring to the 53 Buddhas of the past who have resided in the Saha world, plus the 35 Buddhas who reside in the ten directions. This is primarily a repentance ceremony.

On the first day of the lunar New Year, we participate in the New Year’s Universal Buddha Dharma Assembly. This ceremony allows us to repent for any evil karma we might have created in the past, and to begin the new year with a fresh start.

After the Chanting (10:00AM – 12:00PM), we will gather for a delicious potluck party and Buddhist vegetarian lunch. Lunch will be served from 12:00 – 1:30PM. Following this, we will have entertainment from 1:30 – 3:30PM. This will include games, singing, and a raffle.

Buddhist vegetarian dishes are made without meat or fish. Garlic, onions, and chives are also excluded.
