The Chan Workshop is a group practice focusing on both meditation and Chan Dharma study. Established in 2003 by Chicago’s DDMBA branch founder and resident teacher Iris Wang, the practice is held Sunday mornings from 8:30–11:30 a.m. and is conducted as outlined by DDM founder Master Sheng Yen in his book Zen Wisdom. The text discusses the importance of group practice for a practitioner to progress safely through one’s meditation experience.
The DDM lineage teaches “equal importance of doctrine and cultivation, or theory and practice”. Therefore, Dharma study follows our weekly meditation practice.
